Sleep Disorders Can Result In Jail Time If You Drive While Under the Influence of Medications.
There is an "...increasing national problem of people sleepwalking and driving while under the influence of popular prescription sleep medications." Brian Riley was one of those people when he crashed into Paris Gebrkidan on an Alexandria, Va street, maiming her in the crash. He now faces up to siz years in prison. He had been taking Ambien for a chronic sleep disorder.
Remember the recent news event about U.S. Representative Patrick J. Kennedy who plowed into a concrete barrier near the Capitol? He siad that he had been taking Ambien and Phenergan for stomach inflamation. It is recommended that people not take Ambien and drive. A Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene study found that people who drove under the the drug's influence "...acted like zombies. They were driving in the wrong direction, stopped in the middle of traffic, backing up traffic."
